Abstract
This study was designed to evaluate the clinical characteristics and the outcomes of the management of trophoblastic disease which had been diagnosed at Presbyterian Medical Center in Chounju.
Since January 1990 to June 1994, we analysed retrospectively 39 patients who have been diagnosed as GTD and treated with chemotherapeutic regimen. The incidence of GTD was one per 362 deliveries and the incidence of H-mole was one per 485
deliveries.
The age group of 20~29 was the most frequent group(53.8%). The most frequent group according to parity was primipara(59%). Abnormal vaginal bleeding was a main symptom and the most common antecedent pregnancy of GTD was molar pregnancy. The
periodic
checking of the serum ¥â-HCG level was needed for diagnosis and following-up of the disease. On the basis of modified Bagshawe's prognostic scoring system, we divided the patient into two groups, the one was the low risk group below 7 score ad
the
other
was the high risk group above 7 score Overall rate of remission was 100% in the low-risk group, 92.9% in the high risk group and the most common side effect after chemotherapy was hepatic dysfunction(51.8%). Subsequent pregnancies were relatively
not
different from general population.
